Note on bravery

As the Trump regime settles in, it menaces so much. I will spare you a list. Today, I kept feeling surges of fear. I tried to summon courage but it was hard. Then, I came across some examples of other people showing courage and it got easier for me to summon mine. Bravery is contagious. So, in the hopes that others will be fortified, here is what strengthened me today:

  • A woman in Georgia challenging her Congressman to do something about the tyrannical megalomaniac in the White House. The Representative’s answer is awful but his discomfort as she speaks volumes. Video is cued to start at her question.
  • Chris Kluwe first called MAGA 'a Nazi movement' in protest that led to his arrest; then he declined to comment to the New York Times because he holds them responsible for their part in getting us to this state of affairs. Video of Kluwe speaking up here. His statement regarding the NYT screenshot from Bluesky below. (Jamelle Bouie is the NYT columnist Kluwe was willing to speak to. Bouie is excellent.)
  • Attorney Marc Elias wrote this open letter to Elon Musk, turning Musk’s anti-Semitic jab on its head.

Speaking up publicly, whenever possible, and telling the truth about Trump and his lackeys, is crucial. We need to get the truth out and we need to see and hear one another doing that. We can foster one another’s resolve and courage as we put the truth on record.
